Return path
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-004822
The conductive route that an electrical current takes to flow from the load back to its source, completing the circuit. This path is intentionally provided by a neutral wire, a ground plane in a printed circuit board, or the chassis of a vehicle. In coaxial cable systems, the outer braided shield serves as the return path for the signal carried on the central conductor.
