Return current
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-004820
The flow of electrical charge that travels from a load back to the power source, completing an electrical circuit. In a direct current system, this current flows through the negative or neutral conductor and is equal in magnitude to the current flowing to the load. For balanced three-phase alternating current systems, the vector sum of the phase currents is zero, resulting in no current flow in the neutral conductor.
