Resistance distance

The perpendicular distance from the pivot point of a lever to the line of action of the resistance force. This measurement is a key factor in determining the mechanical advantage of a lever system. In a Class 1 lever, the resistance distance is on the opposite side of the fulcrum from the effort distance.
