Fulcrum
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002475
The pivot point around which a lever rotates or is supported. It is the fixed point that allows the lever to multiply force, change the direction of a force, or increase the range of motion. Levers are classified into three types based on the relative positions of the fulcrum, the effort, and the load; a Class 1 lever has the fulcrum positioned between the effort and the load, as seen in a seesaw or crowbar.
