Rocker arm
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-004896
A pivoting lever in an internal combustion engine that transmits the upward motion of a pushrod or the camshaft lobe to the downward motion of a valve stem, opening the valve. It is mounted on a shaft or individual pivots and has a fulcrum point between its ends. The ratio of the rocker arm's lengths on either side of the fulcrum determines the valve lift relative to the camshaft lobe lift.
