Overhead cam

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-004073

An engine design where the camshaft is positioned above the cylinder head, directly actuating the valves or through short rocker arms. This configuration reduces the number of moving parts compared to pushrod designs, allowing for higher engine speeds and more precise valve timing. Single overhead cam (SOHC) and double overhead cam (DOHC) are common variations.
