An abbreviation for power brakes, used in vehicle classified ads and equipment lists alongside ps for power steering and pw for power windows. It marks a car whose brakes use a booster, normally vacuum assisted, to multiply the force of the driver's foot on the pedal. A car without it has manual brakes and needs noticeably more pedal effort.
