Rail brake

A braking system used on railway vehicles that applies friction directly to the running rails to slow or stop the train. This type of brake is often used as an auxiliary or emergency braking system, supplementing the primary wheel-based brakes. Magnetic rail brakes are a common form, using electromagnetic force to create friction.
