Manual transmission
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-003525
A type of vehicle gearbox that requires the driver to manually select gears using a shift lever and a clutch pedal. This system directly connects the engine to the drive wheels through a series of gears, allowing the driver to control the engine's RPM and torque delivery. Manual transmissions typically offer greater driver engagement and can sometimes provide better fuel efficiency than automatic transmissions, depending on the design.
