Trip-switch

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006199

A protective electrical device designed to automatically interrupt an electrical circuit when an abnormal condition, such as an overcurrent, short circuit, or ground fault, is detected. This action prevents damage to equipment and reduces the risk of electrical fires or shock. Circuit breakers and residual current devices (RCDs) are common examples of trip-switches, often rated by their current capacity and tripping characteristics.
