Short circuit
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-005235
An abnormal connection between two nodes of an electric circuit intended to be at different voltages, resulting in an excessive electric current flow. This bypasses the normal load and can cause overheating, damage to equipment, or fire due to the rapid release of energy. Circuit breakers and fuses are designed to interrupt current flow during a short circuit condition.
