Blow a fuse

To cause a fuse to melt and break an electrical circuit, typically due to an overcurrent condition or a short circuit. This protective action prevents damage to electrical equipment or wiring by interrupting the flow of excessive current. A blown fuse must be replaced with one of the correct rating.
