Trogue
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006200
A wooden trough or channel used for conveying water or for washing ore in early mining operations. Constructed from hollowed-out logs or planks, these conduits were a simple form of launder for drainage or for gravity-based mineral separation processes. A trogue used for washing ore is distinct from a buddle, which is a more complex, stationary apparatus for concentrating fine-grained minerals.
