Paddock

A place in a superficial deposit, in alluvial and placer mining, where ore or washdirt is excavated, or a place where such ore or washdirt is stored before washing. Washdirt is earth rich enough in metal to pay for washing. As a verb, to paddock is to dig washdirt out of the deposit.
