Molding flash
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-003731
Excess material that escapes from the mold cavity during a molding process, forming a thin, unwanted layer along the parting line of the molded part. This defect occurs when the mold halves do not close tightly enough or when injection pressure is too high. Flash typically requires a secondary trimming operation to remove it, adding to production costs.
