Cavity

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001015

The hollow space within a mold into which molten plastic, liquid metal, or another raw material is injected or poured to form a part. The cavity's geometry defines the final shape of the molded product. Molds can be designed with a single cavity for low-volume production or multiple identical cavities to produce several parts in one cycle, increasing manufacturing throughput.
