Cavity

A hollow space or void within a material or structure, or a region of reduced pressure or density in a fluid flow. In atmospheric science, cavities can refer to regions of stagnant air behind obstacles or within turbulent flows. Resonant cavities are also used in some meteorological instruments, such as microwave hygrometers.
