Water-flow pyrheliometer
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010125
An instrument used to measure the intensity of direct solar radiation by absorbing the radiation in a blackened cavity through which water flows. The temperature rise of the water, combined with its flow rate, allows for the calculation of the absorbed solar energy. This device provides highly accurate measurements of solar irradiance.
