Michaelson actinograph
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007270
A type of pyrheliometer used to continuously measure the intensity of direct solar radiation. The instrument uses a bimetallic strip, where one part is blackened to absorb sunlight and the other is shielded and reflective. The differential heating between the two parts causes the strip to bend, and this movement is mechanically linked to a pen that records the radiation intensity on a rotating drum.
