Pyrheliogram
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010696
The graphical record produced by a pyrheliograph, an instrument that continuously measures and records direct solar radiation over time. The chart displays the intensity of the sun's direct beam radiation, typically on a strip of paper mounted on a rotating drum. Interruptions or dips in the otherwise smooth curve on the pyrheliogram indicate the passage of clouds or other obstructions between the sun and the instrument.
