Float-type rain gauge
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005628
A meteorological instrument that measures precipitation by collecting rainfall in a receiver, causing a float to rise. The vertical movement of the float is mechanically linked to a pen that records the accumulated rainfall on a rotating chart drum. This type of gauge provides a continuous record of precipitation over time, with measurements typically recorded in millimeters or inches.
