Rain-intensity gauge

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008385

An instrument designed to measure the rate at which precipitation falls over a given time period. Unlike a standard rain gauge that measures total accumulation, this device provides instantaneous or near-instantaneous rainfall rates. Tipping bucket rain gauges are a common type, recording each time a small, calibrated bucket fills and tips.
