Cavity radiometer

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004207

A type of radiometer designed to measure incident electromagnetic radiation by absorbing it within a black-coated cavity. The absorbed radiation heats the cavity, and the temperature change is then measured to determine the radiation intensity. These instruments are used in atmospheric science to measure solar irradiance and terrestrial radiation, often with high accuracy.
