Scanning radiometer
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008682
A type of radiometer that collects electromagnetic radiation by systematically sweeping its field of view across a target area. This allows for the creation of two-dimensional images or maps of radiative properties. Many satellite-based instruments used for weather observation and climate monitoring, such as those on GOES and NOAA satellites, are scanning radiometers.
