Crown molding

A decorative trim element installed at the junction where a wall meets the ceiling, projecting out from the wall and up onto the ceiling. It adds architectural detail and can conceal imperfections in the joint. Crown molding profiles vary widely, from simple coves to elaborate ogees, and are typically made from wood, MDF, or plaster.
