Debind
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001605
To remove the binder material from a 'green' part, which is a component formed by processes like metal injection molding or powder metallurgy. This intermediate step occurs before the final sintering phase and prepares the compacted powder for densification. The process can be achieved through thermal debinding, where the binder is burned or evaporated off, or through solvent debinding, which uses a chemical solution to dissolve it.
