Kludge
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-003193
An awkward, inelegant, or temporary solution to a technical or mechanical problem, constructed from mismatched or unsuitable parts. A kludge functions, but it is clumsy, difficult to maintain, and not built according to best practices. This differs from a jury-rig, which is a temporary fix made with only the materials at hand, whereas a kludge can be a more permanent but poorly designed system.
