Met
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-003614
An informal name for London's Metropolitan line, the world's first underground railway, which opened in 1863. The line runs from the City of London to the northwestern suburbs, with its outer sections operating on the surface rather than in tunnels. Unlike the deep-level tube lines, the Metropolitan (Met) line uses larger, sub-surface rolling stock that is comparable in size to that used on mainline British railways.
