Mesh current

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-003613

A theoretical current that circulates around a closed loop or mesh in an electrical circuit, used as a variable in mesh analysis to solve for unknown currents and voltages. This method simplifies circuit analysis by applying Kirchhoff's Voltage Law to each independent mesh. The actual current in any branch is then determined by the algebraic sum of the mesh currents flowing through that branch.
