Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-005779

A theoretical construct in circuit analysis that encompasses a voltage source connected between two non-reference nodes, treating the combination as a single node. By grouping the nodes and the source, the analysis is simplified because the voltage source's current, which is initially unknown, does not need to be calculated directly. Kirchhoff's Current Law is applied to the entire supernode, summing the currents entering and leaving it, which reduces the number of required equations to solve the circuit.
