Essential mesh
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002084
A closed loop or path within an electrical circuit that does not contain any other closed loops inside it. In mesh analysis, a circuit is broken down into its set of essential meshes, and Kirchhoff's Voltage Law is applied to each one to create a system of equations. The number of essential meshes in a planar circuit is equal to the number of branches minus the number of nodes plus one, which determines the number of independent equations required to solve for all mesh currents.
