Post and lintel

A fundamental construction system consisting of vertical elements (posts) supporting horizontal elements (lintels) to span openings. The lintel transfers the load from above to the posts, which then transmit it to the foundation. This ancient method forms the basis for many architectural styles and structural frameworks.
