Blowout and cratering

A coverage for oil and gas operations, optional under commercial general liability or energy liability policies, that pays for the insured's liability for damage to other people's property caused by a blowout, an uncontrolled eruption of oil, gas, water or drilling fluid from a well, or by cratering, the collapse of the ground or well. The insured's own costs of regaining control of the well and redrilling fall under separate control of well, or operator's extra expense, coverage.
