Corridor self-insured retention

Term · Insurance and risk management · MLC-T-INS-000989

A specific amount of loss that an insured must bear after an underlying insurance policy's limits have been exhausted, but before an excess or umbrella policy begins to pay. This creates a gap in coverage where the insured retains the risk. It functions similarly to a corridor deductible but is typically associated with larger commercial risks and self-insurance programs.
