Direct damage

Physical harm to insured property that is an immediate and direct result of a covered peril. This type of damage is distinct from indirect or consequential losses, which arise as a result of the direct damage but are not the damage itself. For example, fire burning a house is direct damage, while loss of rental income due to the fire is an indirect loss.
