Gross premium

The total premium charged to an insured for an insurance policy, encompassing the net premium (which covers expected losses and loss adjustment expenses) plus loadings for expenses, profit, and contingencies. This is the amount the policyholder pays to the insurer. It reflects the full cost of the insurance coverage before any discounts or dividends are applied.
