Insurance-linked securities ILS

Financial instruments whose value and payout are linked to insurance risk events, such as natural catastrophes or mortality rates. These securities allow insurers to transfer catastrophic risks to capital market investors, providing an alternative to traditional reinsurance. Catastrophe bonds are a common type of ILS.
