Interest option

A settlement option in a life insurance policy where the death benefit proceeds are retained by the insurer, and only the interest earned on those proceeds is paid to the beneficiary. The principal sum remains with the insurer until a later date or event. This option provides a steady income stream while preserving the lump sum.
