Nonresident agent

An insurance agent or producer licensed to sell, solicit, or negotiate insurance in a state other than their home state of residence. To obtain a nonresident license, an agent must hold a valid license in good standing in their home state and apply to the other state's department of insurance. Most states grant nonresident licenses on a reciprocal basis, as outlined in the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) Producer Licensing Model Act.
