Insurance that protects businesses against financial losses resulting from government actions or political instability in a foreign country. Political risk insurance (PRI) covers events such as expropriation, currency inconvertibility, political violence like war or terrorism, and breach of contract by a government entity. Coverage is sold by private insurers and government agencies like the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA).
