The entire collection of policies or investments held by an insurer, agent, or brokerage. For an insurer, the portfolio represents the total book of business and the aggregate of all risks underwritten. The composition of the portfolio is analyzed for diversification, concentration of risk, and profitability, often segmented by line of business, geography, or policy type.
