Select mortality table

A statistical compilation of death rates that differentiates between insured lives based on the duration since their last medical examination or underwriting selection. It reflects lower mortality rates for recently underwritten individuals compared to those who were underwritten longer ago, as healthier individuals are initially selected. These tables are used by actuaries to calculate premiums and reserves for life insurance policies.
