Single-entry multiple company interface (SEMCI)

A technology standard that permits an independent insurance agent to enter client data once into an agency management system and submit it to multiple insurance carriers for quotes. The single-entry multiple company interface (SEMCI) eliminates the need for agents to re-enter the same information into several different proprietary carrier portals. This standard is promoted by industry groups like the Association for Cooperative Operations Research and Development (ACORD).
