Tacit renewal

A provision in an insurance contract that automatically renews the policy for a subsequent period unless either the insurer or the policyholder provides notice of non-renewal within a specified timeframe. This mechanism maintains continuous coverage without requiring active consent for each renewal cycle. It is common in certain types of property and casualty insurance policies.
