Third-party administrator

An organization that handles administrative tasks for an insurance plan, such as claims processing, premium collection, and record-keeping, on behalf of an insurer or a self-insured entity. They do not assume underwriting risk but provide specialized services to manage the operational aspects of insurance programs. Many employers use third-party administrators for their self-funded health insurance plans.
