Trust fund

A legal entity holding assets that are managed by a trustee for the benefit of one or more beneficiaries. In insurance, trust funds are often established to hold reserves for self-insured entities, captive insurance companies, or to pay claims for certain types of liabilities. The assets are legally separated from the trustee's personal assets.
