Wellness program

An employer-sponsored program, often offered through a group health plan, that encourages healthy behavior through resources such as smoking cessation, weight management, stress reduction and fitness. Under the federal HIPAA and Affordable Care Act wellness rules, rewards for health-contingent programs are limited to 30 percent of the cost of coverage, or 50 percent when the program targets tobacco use, while participation-only programs have no reward limit.
