Extreme temperature

A temperature reading that is significantly higher or lower than the average or expected range for a particular location and time of year. These events can manifest as heatwaves or cold snaps, posing risks to human health, agriculture, and infrastructure. Thresholds for extreme temperatures are often defined statistically, such as values exceeding the 90th or falling below the 10th percentile of historical records.
