Forerunner

A preliminary atmospheric or oceanic disturbance that precedes the main event, often indicating its impending arrival. For example, a swell propagating ahead of a distant storm system or a subtle change in wind direction before a cold front. Observing forerunners can provide early indications of significant weather changes.
