Wave disturbance

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010839

A propagating oscillation in atmospheric properties, such as pressure, temperature, or wind velocity, that moves through the atmosphere. These disturbances can range from small-scale gravity waves to large-scale planetary waves. They are often responsible for organizing weather patterns and can transport energy and momentum over vast distances.
